A GROUP of friends will take part in cycling the width of England to raise cash for charities.
Chris Blackburn, Tim Hanson and Simon Brown, all from Halifax, will join 11 others in a 147-mile coast to coast bike ride from west Cumbria to Sunderland on July 1.
The trio will be raising funds for the Martin House Children’s Hospice and other charities will also be helped by the group.
Mr Blackburn and Mr Hanson will cycle the route as a tag team, while Mr Brown will complete the full route.
Mr Blackburn, 32, of Copley Drive, Copley, said: “There are 14 of us. Some of us went to school together, at Holy Trinity.
“I’m very much looking forward to it. I picked up my bike last week and have been cycling to work, which is quite a lot of miles.”
Mr Blackburn is also using the gruelling challenge as a weight loss project - and has so far lost 34lbs.

Also from Halifax in the group are Ross Hallam, Chris Illingworth, Ryan White and Claire Davies.
