Interim walk-in services have been agreed at two GP practices in Calderdale.

NHS Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group has commissioned the service, which will be available weekends and bank holidays from 8am to 8pm at Calder Community Practice, Todmorden, and Park Community Practice, Halifax, from December 7.

This provides Calderdale with an opportunity to keep walk-in services for up to a year while the on-going work continues to find the best way of providing fit for purpose unplanned care services for residents for the future. Unplanned care refers to the range of NHS services available to people who need advice, care, treatment or diagnosis quickly and unexpectedly. The walk-in services are for non-life threatening ailments.

Chief officer Matt Walsh said: “This interim service provides continuity for up to one year for the people who use the walk-in services while we look at how we can best provide unplanned care in the future for all of Calderdale.”

The CCG’s Governing Body decided at its November meeting to develop unplanned care services based on the needs of individual localities within the district.
