An inquest heard Frank Parker, from Greystones Avenue, died a day after being admitted to Calderdale Royal Hospital in December last year.
He had lived an independent lifestyle until the month before his death when he was admitted to hospital with a chest infection.
He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, tending to his vegetable garden, and attending nearby Willow Court for his lunch.
He returned home from hospital and had been receiving visits from carers four times a day for around a week before he died.
An ambulance was called for him after a carer found him in the bathroom where his temperature had fallen well below normal.
Deputy Coroner Professor Paul Marks recorded a verdict of death by natural causes.
