Pampered pooches can enjoy a fabulous festive season at a Christmas crèche for canines.

Georgiepaws – the home-from-home for dogs in Farfield Avenue, Shelf – is operating a special Christmas service so owners can enjoy holiday parties knowing their pets are being cared for.

Owner Liz Hall explained that the dogs are taken into her family home rather than shut in a kennel, so they will be enjoying a pooch party all of their own.

At Georgiepaws there will be party play with Liz’s own dogs, a festive feast and winter wonderland walks for all her four-legged guests.

Liz said, “At Christmas, people get invited out more than they would usually do, to restaurants, parties or friends’ homes – but it is a real commitment having a dog and this can be a problem if there is no-one to look after them – as family and friends may be out and about too.

“Even if you are entertaining at home, you may have some guests who are not comfortable with dogs or perhaps you are catering for a lot of people and simply have too much to do to keep an eye on a boisterous pet as well.

“People love their dogs and we know it can really spoil the fun if you are worried about a pet left home alone or shut up somewhere while you are out.

“We decided to offer this service so dog owners can have some ‘me’ time over the Christmas period as well.”
