West Yorkshire Archive Service and Calderdale Reference & Local History staff who have teamed up to provide advice and guidance on how to get started on your family tree.

Family history experts were on hand to help people trace their ancestry through advice sessions in Halifax.

West Yorkshire Archive Service and Calderdale Reference and Local History staff teamed up to provide a morning of guidance on how to get started on tracing family trees.
The free event took place at Centreal Library in Halifax - starting with a talk before an introduction to the archive service.

Coun Jayne Booth, deputy chair of the archives, archaeology and trading standards committee, said: “The archive service preserves the local heritage of historical documents and helps members of the public use them. Anyone interested in the history of West Yorkshire who would like to discover the wealth of records that have survived is welcome to visit or contact any of the archive offices.”
