Hebden Bridge wildlife artist Stella Mays won high praise and awards at the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s 2013 Wildlife Artist of the Year prize-giving in London.

A real favourite with the judging panel, Stella’s stunning images of big cats, ‘Dust Chasers’ and ‘High Life’, sold within an hour of the exhibition opening on Monday. Her stunning snow leopard ‘High Life’ was named winner in the Endangered Category, overall competition runner-up and scooped the David Shepherd Choice too.

Wildlife artist and conservationist David Shepherd, who launched the art competition in 2008 to raise funds and awareness for endangered wildlife through his Surrey-based foundation, said: “I simply loved Stella’s snow leopard. It was my favourite from the start of the judging process. Everything about her work shouts talent.”
