Ash Green Community Primary School held an inaugural Easter Bonnet Parade and were overwhelmed by the support they received from the community of Mixenden.
The school’s Parent Representative body, chaired by Paula McKenna, had organised a series of events including Family Learning workshops to design bonnets and dance lessons for the children, culminating in a festive parade.
In all, more than 350 children, parents and staff were led through the streets by Mayor of Halifax, Coun Lisa Lambert as their colourful bonnets made an Easter Train. Staff member and Family Learning co-ordinator Andrea Shopland managed the entire event and was thrilled with the incredible support the event received.
She said: “It was so lovely to see all the community coming together to support the event. We can’t wait for the next one.”
Field Lane Children’s Centre in Burnsall Road, Rastrick, also saw the community take part in Easter celebrations. As well as an Easter egg hunt their were other activities including including arts and crafts and face painting.
