Hundreds of cannabis plants found at house on fire in Hipperholme

HUNDREDS of cannabis plants were uncovered after firefighters went put out a blaze at a house in Hipperholme yesterday.

Police were called to the building off Denholme Gate Road at 4.07pm by fire crews who had found more than 400 drug plants.

Inside, officers also found a set up for growing cannabis.

Police have been making house-to-house inquiries about the find.

Inspector Mohammed Nawaz, who leads the Lower Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I am pleased that once again with the support from our local residents we have been able to disrupt criminal activities.

“If you have any information about suspicious activity in your area then please get in touch. If we have the information we will take action.”
