HUNDREDS of people formally praised firefighters in West Yorkshire last year.
The area’s fire and rescue service received 383 compliments - one of the highest numbers it has ever had.
They ranged from approving of the brigade’s handling of operational incidents and its fire prevention work to school visits.
Of the total donations, 23 were also accompanied by donations to The Fire Fighters Charity.
Meanwhile the number of complaints about the brigade were up at 58 for the same period compared to 48 the year before.
Chief Fire Officer Simon Pilling said: “It’s good to know when people are happy with the public service you provide but it’s just as important to learn from your mistakes.
“Thankfully, we managed to resolve 55 of the 58 complaints at the first stage of investigation to the satisfaction of the complainant.
