THESE hounds were out in force to mark a post-Christmas tradition.
The Colne Valley Beagles gathered for the Boxing Day hunt at the Jack O’Mitre pub on New Hey Road, Scammonden.
The dogs and huntsmen were watched by scores of spectators as they followed a pre-laid scent trail.
Hunting hares with hounds, as the group used to do, was banned by the Government in 2004.
Huntsman James Swanbury said the Boxing Day hunt has been going for 120 years, and there has been hunting in the area for several centuries.
He said the 2004 legislation has not dampened support for the group.
“A lot of people want to show their support and not let a tradition fade away,” he said..
