Staff escaped the office for the day to help transform a Halifax school.

Provident, Lloyds and Marshalls employees laid patio flags, painted murals and worked on the nature area at Abbey Park Primary School, Illingworth.

They were there as part of the charity Business in the Community’s Give and Gain day.

Deputy head teacher Susan Barraclough said: “Volunteers are invaluable to our school, the children not only benefited from meeting role models from the world of work, they also gained a great deal from them giving their dedication to the projects.”

Neil Davidson, of Marshalls, said: “It was a fantastic way to get involved with the community, meet new people and make a difference.”
