THE finishing touches are being made to cakes and costumes for this year’s Elland Charity Carnival.

Hundreds of people are expected to attend the gala on Saturday.

A host of entertainment is planned including stalls, a climbing wall, funfair, fancy dress contest and children’s races.

The carnival will kick off with a procession from Elland Primary School at 12.30pm. It will then make its way down Boxhall Road, left towards Coronation Street, right onto Southgate, then Catherine Street, Savile Road, Norton Street, Elsinore Avenue, left at Victoria Road, and right on to the carnival field on Recreation Lane.

Beryl Scott, carnival organisers, said: “The event brings the community together and gives people an idea of what the traders in Elland have to offer. We have a lot of good little shops.”
