AN ACCOUNTANCY firm has celebrated its 25th anniversary with a very English afternoon of strawberries and cream.

Angela Riley and her staff from Riley & Co in St John’s Lane, Halifax, welcomed clients to Elland Cricket Club to tuck into strawberries and cream and a glass of bubbly.

They also braved the weather to take to the bowls green.

Director Simon Walton said the clouds parted and left their 80 guests to bask in the sunshine.

“It was a truly brilliant day. Riley & Co is what it is because of some loyal clients and we’re very grateful to them,” he said.

The change in weather meant the bowls competition could go ahead.

Eventual winners were Peter Denton and Norma Branch, volunteers from the Maurice Jagger Centre, who beat Bernie Wilson from Riley & Co and Mike Shaw from Wilby Ltd.
