A MAN has appeared in court charged with stealing more than £22,000 worth of jewellery and watches.

Lee Browne, 23, is accused of shoplifting two ladies’ Rolexes from Lister Horsfall in Corn Market, Halifax.

The watches, which he is alleged to have stolen on March 9, were worth £12,140.

Browne is also said to have stolen an 18-carat gold bracelet and an 18-carat white-gold ring worth £10,000 in a separate incident.

He is alleged to have taken that jewellery from Townsend Jewellers in Marygate, Wakefield, on February 10.

Browne, of Willow Grove, Liverpool, entered no plea to the charges at Calderdale Magistrates’ Court.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Bradford Crown Court on June 30.
