A man who survived a brain tumour and heart surgery says building his own car helped him recover from illness.
Jim Hodgkinson, 59, a technician at Exley School who lives in Ripponden, spent four years constructing his Pembleton three wheel car.
He said: “I was diagnosed with a brain tumour four years ago and got into a depression about it. My doctor advised me to do something to take my mind off it.
“I had to have a heart operation too because I’d had a problem since I was little where it wouldn’t beat properly
“I’d always wanted a Morgan three wheeler and found a Pembleton three wheeler online and ordered it straight away.
“The body is built out of sheets of aluminium and I built a bending machine in my garage to bend the metal.
“It really got me through it all.
“Without the car I would have been really depressed.
“It’s become a little star of its own. I can’t actually believe I built it when I take it out.”
