TRADE unions are holding talks to protect jobs at one of the biggest employers in the upper Calder Valley.
Legal publishers Sweet & Maxwell announced last week that changes to its management structure would mean job cuts at its offices in Mytholmroyd and London.
The firm, part of Thomson Reuters, employs 230 staff in Calderdale. Editorial staff in the National Union of Journalists and other workers who are members of Unite have organised at meeting tomorrow at the Shoulder of Mutton, Mytholmroyd, at 12.30pm.
NUJ northern organiser Chris Morley said: "The NUJ will be in full support of its members to protect their interests."
Hilary Lambert, vice-president Commercial Unit, at Thomson Reuters said efficiency initiatives affected staff in the content operations team. "As we are going through a consultation process we cannot be precise about numbers," she said.
"By way of an indication it is not expected to be greater than 5 per cent of the Mytholmroyd site."
