Jobs go at legal firm in shake-up

A MANAGEMENT shake-up has led to cuts at legal publishers Sweet & Maxwell, Mytholmroyd.

Efficiency initiatives and a realignment of its management structure has cut jobs at the Calderdale and London offices of the firm, which is part of Thomson Reuters.

"To achieve these efficiences, we have notified the relevant managers in our Content Operations organisation that their roles may be at risk of redundancy and initiated a consultation process," said Hilary Lambert, vice-president Commercial Unit, Thomson Reuters.

"The legal industry has undergone significant changes over the last 24 months and our customers have made and continue to make lasting changes to the way they do business.

"We are making these changes to better position the business for growth."

Sweet & Maxwell employs nearly 1,000 staff and also has offices in Edinburgh, Dublin and Andover in Hampshire.
