CIRCUS skills and face painting helped a fund raising mission for a life-saving service.

The Woolshops Shopping Centre in Halifax town centre was hosting a day of activities to collect funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

As well as the chance to try juggling and other circus skills, youngsters could have their faces decorated and there were collection buckets around the town.

The shopping centre wants to raise £7,200 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance - the amount the charity needs to raise every day in order to keep both ambulances maintained and in the air.

Neil Darbey, manager of the centre, said: “It’s a very worthwhile cause. We’ve raised £2,000 so far and have other events going on.”

Kerry Garner, West Yorkshire community fund raiser for the charity, said they had a positive response from shoppers, with many wanting to donate.
