Kawasaki ER-6N

The essence of motorcycling

For motorcyclists, whether new to two wheels or long-term riders, the essence of motorcycling, the freedom that riding on two wheels provides, is sometimes difficult toexpress.

With a reputation for innovative motorcycles delivering the performance sought by enthusiasts the world over, Kawasaki have now taken the refreshing and imaginative step of combining their engineering prowess and an awareness of contemporary design, with the introduction of the stunning all-new ER-6n.

Conceived at the exclusive Kawasaki design facility in Akashi, Japan, the ER-6n represents a bold new era for Kawasaki and fresh opportunities both for existing riders and those who have previously not considered the merits of motorcycling.

A machine for riders of all ages and abilities whether male or female, the core appeal of the ER-6n is that of a motorcycle at the very cutting edge of contemporary design, just as pleasing to look at as it is to ride.

Incorporating ergonomics perfectly suited to a variety of riders, the ER-6n makes optimum use of a compact two-cylinder engine to deliver a sleek chassis that is extremely manoeuvrable and fun-to-ride.

For new riders, the ER-6n experience will grow and mature along with theirs.

For existing riders, the machine will reawaken in them the very essence of the motorcycle riding sensation, providing a broad spread of useable engine power matched to a chassis that is outstanding in both visual and engineering terms.

The ER-6n represents a single-minded vision for the Kawasaki company, a vision born of a passionate commitment to offering the sheer enjoyment that motorcycling represents to the widest possible audience.

In an age where transport alternatives all shout for attention, the ER-6n evokes the elusive essence of Kawasaki's commitment to fun, thrills and freedom on two wheels, crafted and distilled into one distinctive statement.

A unique combination

Fun to ride, rider-friendly and great looking, the ER-6n has something for everyone, from beginners to experienced riders. How did we build a bike with such broad-spectrum appeal? Simple, we started with the rider, not the bike. Our engineers took a close look at how riders interface with a motorcycle. Riding positions were studied to discover which posture instilled the most confidence. Narrowing the distance between the footpegs and using a lower seat made it easier for riders to reach the ground with their feet. And low-effort controls make for easy operation.

The ER-6n is very easy to ride. Nimble handling qualities come courtesy of a narrow and lightweight trellis frame featuring an offset laydown rear shock mounted to a triangulated swingarm. This innovative short-wheelbase frame (together with the compact engine) is key to the ER-6n's high comfort and rider-friendly handling qualities.

The engine is no less innovative. With light weight and high compactness primary design goals, V-Twins and In-line Fours were out of the question. Our engineering team (including our MotoGP engine designer) developed an all-new compact parallel twin engine that pumps out plenty of smooth, responsive power across a mile-wide rev range.

This 649cc, liquid-cooled power unit is the most compact engine in its category. But don't be fooled by the small size, this baby punches out power levels that are more than a match for any machine in its category. Electronic fuel injection ensures seamless power delivery across the rev range. The ER-6n is as nature-friendly as it is rider-friendly, as it is the only machine in its category to meet the stringent Euro-III emissions regulations.

Fun to ride and easy to operate, the ER-6n welcomes new riders with its non-intimidating size and comfortable ergonomics, while also appealing to experienced riders with its gutsy engine performance and responsive handling qualities.

The ER-6n – the size and feel of a 400 with the power of a 650.
