KNITTERS in Calderdale have been busy creating 400 mini -hats for charity.

Each year volunteers are asked to get involved in the Big Knit, which began in 2003 when Innocent Smoothies knitted 20,000 hats to raise funds for Age Concern.

Teresa Iwanowski, manager of Age UK, Halifax, thanked all the helpers including deputy manager Annete, volunteers and customers for their help and support during the year as well as Anne Muir, Susan and Margaret Ormondroyd, Ann Mayes as well as tens of volunteers who helped knit.

The hats will be on sale in Boots and Sainsbury’s after October 14. Each bottle will raise 25p for Age UK to help towards a £1 million target.
