THE owner of a waste disposal site has appeared in court facing five charges.

David Turner, 51, who runs the waste site at Farrar Mill, Siddal, Halifax, faced three charges of exceeding the amount of waste he was allowed, and two of operating a regulated facility without a permit. All the offences were said to have happened between March and May this year.

He was granted a four-week adjournment at Calderdale Magistrates’ Court.

He will next appear on July 21.

In February, Turner, who lives at Broad Ings Farm, Rishworth, was told to pay £15,000 in costs and was given a six-month supervision order at Leeds Crown Court after admitting 12 counts of breaching his permit.

Earlier this week Calderdale Council refused planning permission for a variation to allow a screening plant to be used at the site.
