The BBC has commissioned a third series of the hit drama Last Tango in Halifax.
The show, which stars Anne Reid and Derek Jacobi as ageing lovers Celia and Alan, has been a huge hit with viewers.
It has also been great for Calderdale bringing the district to the attention of millions.
And, writer and executive producer Sally Wainwright, who was brought up in Calderdale, has promised viewers “a whole new emotional ball game.”
“I’m so happy we’ve got a third series, it’s so exciting to be able to take these characters further and to find out loads more stuff about them,” she said.
“What’s so great about writing for characters like Celia and Alan is that there is a wealth of back story to explore.
“Series three will be a whole new emotional ball game.”
More than seven million people regularly tune into the show which won Baftas for Best Drama Series and Best Writer.
Filming will start next year with the series on screens later in 2014.
And, tonight(Christmas Eve) the final episode of series two is aired at 9 pm on BBC 1.
It culminates in Celia and Alan renewing their vows.
Fans of the show are also eagerly awaiting Sally’s next creation “Happy Valley” a police drama which is also filmed in Calderdale and that is expected to be screened from next spring.
