The boss of an Elland media company has set up a charity to raise awareness of a life-threatening heart condition.

Tony Abbott, of Reactiv Media, has set up Heartbeat of Sport, to raise the profile of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). The condition has to be treated within minutes and in the UK alone claims the lives of 250 people a day.

Mr Abbott wants the charity to work with amateur sports clubs at grassroots level to help them raise much-needed funds to hav the right equipment and properly-trained people on site. The charity launch night will be held at The Venue, Bowers Mill, Branch Road, Barkisland on Friday October 19 at 7pm. It will be a black tie dinner, with entertainment and dancing until late.
