The showcase for talent is the third to be held at the library and it was organised by a group of young people.

Elaine Duffy, young people’s library service officer at Calderdale Council, said the youngsters thought of the idea and were in charge of publicising it.

They have also been helping come up with other ideas to encourage more youngsters to use libraries.

She said; “It went really well. We had some young people who have performed at all the events and some new ones.”

She said there were around 10 performers in total who came from across Calderdale to perform in front of an audience of around 30 people.

Library staff hope to make the young people’s talent session a regular event.
