People were encouraged to take an active interest in their local library.
Stainland Library held an open day which included displays from Stainland Stitchers, a readers’ group and a recent archaelogical dig in the village. Greater Elland Historical Society organised the dig at Fall Spring Wood and it took place around the foundations of quarrymen’s cottages which date from the 19th century. Items recovered by the society and members of the pub, which included mainly crockery and glass, were put on display. Refreshments were served to adults and children who attended.
