Budding dancers from across the country are expected to sign up to a new professional dance centre in Halifax.

Peter Coenen, who owns The Dance Mill, in Holmfield Mill, has set up Old School Danceworks at the mill, using his 25 years’ experience performing and teaching in the industry.

It will teach discplines including ballet, contemporary, commercial jazz, partnering and choreography.

The two-year course, for 18 and over, will focus purely on dance and will incorporate an internationally-recognised qualification, in partnership with Trinity College, London, for a Certificate in Safe and Effective Dance Practice.

The course will run 8.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday. First round auditions for the 2013 intake will be held in April and for the first year there will only be 16 places available.
