The man leading a bid to buy the Shay Stadium faced a host of questions as he outlined his plans for the ground.
Tony Abbott was joined by around 200 people including FC Halifax Town and Halifax RL supporters and members of the community.
After presenting his plans which include full redevelopment of the ground and creation of jobs Mr Abbott took questions from the floor.
People asked where the money was coming from and if there would be a mortgage against The Shay if his bid was successful.
“The funding is already sat there ready for us to do at least three sides of the plan now. Don’t worry about the money - that’s for me to worry about you just get people down here watching your club,” he said.
When challenged further he said: “There would be some sort of mortgage but some of it would be cash and some borrowing. We would aim to pay this off within three years and then all we have to cover is the maintenance costs.”
Questions ranged from minute details to why he should be trusted with the ground.
“I would put 999 year leases in place for both clubs if that’s possible - it will be a minimum of 99 years,” said Mr Abbott.
“I will ensure that both clubs have the best facility that other clubs will be envious of for as long as I live.”
When asked if he would be loooking to rename the stadium Mr Abbott said: “It will never ever be the Reactiv Shay. It should be the Halifax Shay.”
