Two enterprising sisters from Elland could be in line for a national award for their store’s customer service.

Anon Lingerie, on Victoria Road, which was opened by Rebecca Sedgewick two years ago, has been shortlisted for the Customer at Heart Champion of Champion’s title.

The store send customers hand-made birthday cards and have entire families who shop with them.

Rebecca said: “At Anon we take a little bit of a different approach to customer service, we like to think.

“We see our customers as friends and will go to every length to ensure that they are happy.

“Many of our customers have actually become friends outside of the business. Our whole ethos is making women feel good about themselves and giving them the confidence they deserve.”

Rebecca works with her sister Amanda. The shop has won three awards since it opened - Totally Locally’s Top Five Shops in Calderdale, Totally Locally’s Best Newcomer and the Customer at The Heart Award.

The Customer at the Heart award is given to shops nominated by a member of the public nominating a shop for a high standard of customer service.

A secret shopper is sent out to the nominated stores and if they think a shop excels in customer service, the award is granted.

Anon is now in running for Customer at Heart Champion of Champions title which will see shopeprs voting online for their favourite store at www.customerattheheart.co.uk/champion-of-champions.

Rebecca said: “We would like to thank every person who has walked through our shop door in the last two years and have supported us.

“We would like to invite them to our open day on October 20 to celebrate our second anniversary to show our appreciation.”

Also nominated for the title are Salt Bar and Grill in Sowerby Bridge, Pure Health and Beauty in Elland, Contors Dance in Halifax, HEART Gallery in Hebden Bridge, Spirals in Hebden Bridge, Yorshire Soap Company in Hebden BridgeThe Old TreeHouse in Hebden Bridge and The Willow Garden in Hebden Bridge.

Rebecca is also organising a new course of burlesque courses in Elland.

After a £25 deposit, classes will be charged at £5 a class, with the last lesson free of charge.

The instructor is Miss Diamond Deluxe, from Ripponden, and the course starts on Septembe 26.

After completing the beginners course, there will then be a chance to progress on to the intermediate and then advanced level courses.

Rebecca said: “A lot of ladies have been saying that they are too shy to do burlesque classes, we just want to take this opportunity to tell you that firstly you wont be made to do anything you don’t want to do and at no point do you have to take your clothes off!”
