EXCEPTIONALLY high regard for the individuality of each child has earned a Calderdale nursery top marks from Ofsted.

Water’s Edge, in Park Lane, Elland, opened in 2001 and looks after 100 children.

There are 35 staff and the nursery is open from 7.15am to 6pm for 51 weeks of the year.

According to inspectors, the overall quality of provision is outstanding.

“Children independently access an extensive and imaginative range of activities and experiences, which significantly promote all areas of learning.

“The nursery has an exceptionally high regard for the individuality of each child as well as highly comprehensive understanding of their specific needs,” according to Ofsted inspectors.

The children are extremely well protected and the nursery has “meticulously detailed policies” and procedures to ensure safe and efficient management.

“Rigorous systems monitor and evaluate children’s progress and there are well established links with local schools.

“There is a superb relationship between staff, children and their parents.”

Behaviour is very good and children’s welfare, learning and development are promoted extremely well.

Opportunities for babies and young children are excellent.
