A local football referee is to be honoured at a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace hosted by HRH The Duke of Cambridge for his volunteer work in grassroots football.
Aaran William will be one of 150 volunteers to be celebrated on Monday, 7 October at an event that forms part of The Football Association’s 150th anniversary celebrations.
Aaran has been given the award after helping run a local football academy and mentor new referees, encouraging them to get involved at grassroots level.
HRH The Duke of Cambridge, in his official capacity as President of The Football Association, will host the event and will present Aaran with a medal to commemorate his achievements.
A focal point of the day will see the Buckingham Palace garden host its first ever football match.
