45 homes will be renovated
PREPARATIONS are under way to improve 45 houses alongside a key road approaching Todmorden town centre.
But there is no indication when work will begin on an equally prominent derelict mill site nearby.
Residents of the properties between Back Der Street and Richmond Street are currently being consulted on plans for stone cleaning, pointing and exterior repairs.
The proposed improvements will help to lift its appearance and improve the journey along Halifax Road, according to Calderdale Council, which is paying for the work from its share of the Leeds City Region budget.
Coun Amanda Byrne (Con, Sowerby Bridge), economy and enterprise spokeswoman, said: "These housing improvements will really help lift the appearance of this site and support the wider regeneration work that is being planned in Todmorden."
Nearby land has stood derelict for years since Hope Mill was demolished to make way for housing, workshops and offices.
