Anger at alarm led to attack
A MAN who punched his girlfriend three times and held a knife to her throat after their alarm clock woke him up, has been ordered to attend anger-management training.
Christopher King, 22, of Union Street South, Halifax, attacked his girlfriend at 9am as they lay in bed together.
Andy Wills, prosecuting, said King "awoke angry and started punching his girlfriend because she had set the alarm to go off.
"She packed her bag to leave but he stamped on her hair straighteners, broke her necklace, took a kitchen knife and put it to her chin.
"When she left the flat he spat at her, followed her out and pushed her."
She found a nearby traffic warden who reported King to the police.
Maggie Wood, for King, said the knife he used was one to butter bread and he held the blunt side to his girlfriend's throat.
She said: "He has anger management difficulties and is desperate for help."
King was given a two-year supervision order, ordered to attend an integrated domestic abuse Programme and to pay 60 in costs.
