Another gun raid on home

FOUR men were being questioned by police today after a second armed robbery in two days in Halifax.

The latest attack in Moorlands View, off Free School Lane, Savile Park, happened less than a quarter of a mile from a home where four people were held at gunpoint only 26 hours earlier.

Police said: "We are not ruling out that these two incidents could be linked."

According to neighbours, the victim of today's raid returned to his mid-terrace home to find three men inside – one armed with a gun.

The victim, thought to be a fireman, was comforted by neighbours in nearby Moorlands Place.

The stone property and a section of street outside was cordoned off and under police guard, attracting attention from passing cars and pedestrians.

One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said her partner had spoken to a woman who saw the drama.

"She told him it was an armed robbery. She said there were police everywhere."

It is thought officers were joined by the police helicopter, which hovered overhead to hunt for the raiders.

Two men aged 26 and two 25-year-olds were arrested. Police said they had taken property from the house in Moorlands View.

Another woman said: "We have heard he came home and there were three men in his house with a gun.

"He is a professional man so we don't understand why he would be targeted. It is scary, it is very close to home."

On Wednesday night raiders burst into another stone-built terrace home in Savile Park Road, Savile Park, at around 10.45pm and held its occupants – thought to be two women and two men – at gunpoint.

A police spokeswoman said: "Four men have been arrested following a robbery in Moorlands View, Savile Park. Inquiries are ongoing."
