Birthday bash benefits charity

TWO local charities have benefited from a 50th birthday party.

Andrew Bradley, 50, of Hubberton Green, Sowerby, and Paul Walker, 50, of Stones Drive, Ripponden, asked for donations instead of presents for their joint birthday bash.

They raised over 2,000 which will be split between Over-gate Hospice, Elland, and the Heath Stroke Club, Halifax.

Sally Harrison, Mr Bradley's wife, said: "Paul's mum and dad were both in Overgate and Andy's dad was looked after by the Heath Stroke Club so we wanted to give something back to both of them.

"Paul's still collecting money so the amounts could still go up.

"Everyone commented on what a great night it was and even better for a good cause, as well as a joint birthday celebration."

Louise Danielczuk, Overgate Hospice appeals manager, said: "Donations like these really help Overgate Hospice to carry on caring for the people of Calderdale.

"The generosity of the people like Mr Bradley and Mr Walker is really appreciated."
