Boarders head to Scotland for skate park ideas
SKATERS have taken a trip to Scotland to help inspire their plans for a new skate park.
A group of young people from Hebden Bridge visited Kirkintilloch and Livingston skate parks in Scotland on a trip funded by the Youth Opportunities Fund.
Bendcrete, which built the existing park in Hebden Bridge, showed the teenagers around and explained the construction process to them.
They also met the group who raised the money to see the Kirkintilloch park become a reality.
Kim Blackburn of Calderdale Council's young people's service said: "This was an excellent example of young people with a common interest coming together to improve facilities by influencing local decision making.
"It was brilliant to see young people from different backgrounds and areas working together."
The Hebden Bridge group has already raised 25,000, and is waiting to hear the results of two other bids for grants to help it see its dreams become a reality.
