Business Awards 2008: Shortlists revealed

AFTER a long and tough judging session the shortlist for this year's business awards has been drawn up.

Businesses across Calderdale have been waiting to find out if they have made it into the nominations shortlist.

And there was tough competition between the entries in all seven categories.

The Courier's awards are the perfect chance for the district to salute both individuals and companies who make up the cream of the business world.

The categories were: new business, small to medium sized business, young business person of the year, international business, innovator of the year, entrepreneur of the year, manufacturer of the year, business of the year, person of the year and lifetime achievement award.

The shortlists

The judges

It was a tough judging session as the panel of four sifted through the entries and chose the final shortlists for each of the seven categories.

The judges were last year's business person of the year winner Roger Harvey, of Harveys of Halifax, Nick Worsnop, of Chadwick Lawrence, John Brightwell, of Bank of Scotland Business Banking and Courier editor John Furbisher.

Three awards will also be announced on the night, for which there are no shortlists.

They are Business of the Year, sponsored by Bank of Scotland Business Banking, the Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Business Link and Business Person of the Year, sponsored by Chadwick Lawrence.

The much-anticipated celebration evening will be held at Bertie's Banqueting Suite on November 6.

It promises to be a night to remember!
