It was a tough judging session as the panel of four sifted through the entries and chose the final shortlists for each of the seven categories.
The judges were last year's business person of the year winner Roger Harvey, of Harveys of Halifax, Nick Worsnop, of Chadwick Lawrence, John Brightwell, of Bank of Scotland Business Banking and Courier editor John Furbisher.
Three awards will also be announced on the night, for which there are no shortlists.
They are Business of the Year, sponsored by Bank of Scotland Business Banking, the Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Business Link and Business Person of the Year, sponsored by Chadwick Lawrence.
The much-anticipated celebration evening will be held at Bertie's Banqueting Suite on November 6.
