Calderdale reservoirs share £60m investment

INVESTIGATIVE work has started at a Halifax beauty spot as part of a £60 million programme by Yorkshire Water.

Boreholes and trial holes will be drilled at Ogden Water – pictured right – over the next three weeks as part of a scheme to maintain and modernise the region's reservoirs.

Access will not be affected and the waterside path will remain fully open throughout the project.

Ogden Water is one of three sites to benefit from the investment programme, two of which are in Calderdale.

Work to install drainage and erosion protection at Widdop Reservoir, near Hebden Bridge, began earlier this month and was expected to be complete within three to four months.

The scheme is focusing on Victorian dams and reservoirs across Yorkshire.

Access to properties during the work will not be necessary and residents are advised to be on their guard about bogus callers.

Genuine employees of both companies carry identity cards, which can be checked by calling 0800 1387878.
