Can you solve the mystery of last supper?
A HALIFAX couple want to hear from art sleuths who may be able to help them solve the mystery of a huge stone painting.
The creation depicts the Last Supper on a piece of slate 7ft long and 5ft high.
It was bought by Richard Illand and Louise Heath when they moved to Boothtown House, Hall Street North, Boothtown, Halifax.
The historic house was home to cats' eye inventor Percy Shaw and they bought the stone painting from Halifax firm Heritage Oak.
The couple are now moving to Brighouse but want to know more about the artwork before they put it and the house up for sale.
"It is a beautiful painting of the Last Supper," said Richard, 41. "My partner Louise hated it at first but she has grown to like it.
"We would really like to know more about the history behind it."
Percy Shaw, who lived in Boothtown House in the 1970s, wanted to demolish the property to build a swimming pool but was refused permission as it is a Grade II listed building.
Richard and Louise have spent thousands of pounds restoring the 17th century home.
They are appealing for anyone who can help to get in touch.
