Cannabis found in house search

A MAN was caught with about half an ounce of cannabis after a search of his home.

Andrew Greenwood, 34, of Barker Street, Todmorden, admitted possessing cannabis.

Julian Sagar, prosecuting, told Calderdale magistrates Greenwood was arrested when his property was searched after a search warrant was issued on July 4.

He said: “A quantity of cannabis was found in small bags which were weighing in at 1.75 grammes each.

“It totalled half an ounce of the drug.”

He told police the cannabis was his own and that he had been smoking it. He had split it into small bags to get it ready to smoke.

Paul Manning, representing him said: “He is sorry for what he has done and he has not been smoking since the offence.”

He was sentenced to 100 hours unpaid community work with supervision and ordered to pay 43 costs.
