Charity thanks to Halifax Town
THREE Calderdale charities shared £5,000 thanks to FC Halifax Town.
The football club presented cheques of 1,666 to Home Start Calderdale, Halifax Multiple Sclerosis Society and Heath Stroke Club at Saturday's game against Radcliffe Borough.
The cash came from the FA Community Shield Foundation which asks clubs to nominate three local charities to receive the money.
Pete Stajic, FC Halifax Town commercial manager, said: "This is our way of giving something back to the community and it's great that we are able to do it, enabling local people to benefit."
The club also presented 80 to Sainsbury's and 50 each to Asda and Morrisons for them to give to their chosen charities.
The money was given after they allowed the football club to sell Christmas raffle tickets in store. The supermarkets received 10 per cent.
