Children get stuck into poetry at Ted Hughes Festival
These children were some of the youngest bookworms enjoying a poetry festival to celebrate Ted Hughes.
The Elmet Trust Ted Hughes Festival to celebrate the Mytholmroyd-born poet included a story-telling session by former Emmerdale actress Ursula Holden Gill.
She captivated youngsters with her stories at Mytholmroyd Library.
The festival also saw children from Scout Road, Burnley Road and Cragg Vale Schools reading their favourite poems from Ted Hughes' collections for children.
The winners of the Elmet Poetry Prize and the Ted Hughes Young Poetry Awards were announced, there was a talk on the Hughes archives and a guided walk up the valley of Crimsworth Dean where Ted Hughes found inspiration for many poems.
