Come and join the fun: Todmorden stages 80th agricultural show

HOUNDS, horses and falcons will be the stars of Todmorden Agricultural Show.

The 80th annual show, organised by Todmorden Agricultural Society, will be held tomorrow at Centre Vale Park, Burnley Road, will be full of animals, attractions and competitions.

Competitive sections include horses, donkeys, cattle, sheep, goats, dogs, fur and feather, ferrets, arts and crafts and a children's pet show.

There will also be displays of showjumping, duck herding, hand-clipping sheep and a parade of hounds from the Holcombe Hunt throughout the day.

The Malhamdale Falconry Team, a particular favourite last year, will made two appearances.

Also keep an eye out for displays of classic cars and motorcycles, the funfair and dog agility display teams.

Incredible Edible Todmorden will have a tent with a display of vegetables and salad, with four competitions for schools, groups or individuals. There will also be a photography competition based on the theme of past and present growing history in Todmorden.

Anyone can bring exhibits to enter on the day from 7am but must have a pre-show day ticket to do so.

Tickets cost 4 in advance or 6 on the day. Children aged four to 16 are 2 and 3 on the day, and under fours go free.

Advance tickets are available from shops around the town.

The show did not take place in 2006 or 2007 because of flood defence work by the Environment Agency.
