Community hall scheme seen by 200
NEARLY 200 people examined plans to create a hall for parties, dinners and public performances in Hebden Bridge.
Hebden Bridge Community Association, which is taking over the town's council offices, expects to spend about 4 million on the new riverside building which will occupy the Garden Street car park, opposite the old health centre.
Trustee Andrew Bibby said: "We were overwhelmed by the response to the consultation and are enormously grateful for all the comments and suggestions made."
Last May the group was given 15,000 from the Capital Fund, a national charity that supports community enterprises.
The planned hall will replace Hebden Bridge Civic Hall and the Co-operative Hall, which closed years ago.
Community association trustee Karen Houghton said: "We believe the plans will give our community some of the facilities currently missing."
