Conversion boost for council offices
A SCHEME to allow the community to take over, alter and improve Hebden Bridge Council Offices has been given a huge boost.
The Department for Communities and Local Government has agreed that Calderdale Council should pilot the transfer of assets programme which is designed to give old buildings a new lease of life.
"We have ambitious but realistic proposals for turning it into a public hall and function room which the town so badly needs," said Andrew Bibby, joint co-ordinator of the project team.
"We can't promise immediate results.
"However, we will now get fully engaged in detailed discussions with senior council officers, to plan the way ahead."
