Design award for Shibden Hall
A MULTI-MILLION pound restoration project has been honoured with a design award.
Golder Associates, the lead designers for the restoration of Shibden Hall and Park, won the Landscape Architecture Award at the Royal Institute of British Architects Yorkshire White Rose Awards.
The 6.5 million Heritage Lottery-funded scheme included the restoration of the original "paisley shawl" lawn, set out by Shibden's former owner Anne Lister in the 19th century.
Other new features include a play area, caf and visitor centre. The lake, walls and terraces were repaired and a new boathouse built.
Associate and technical development director at Golder, Jonathan Buckley, said: "This is a fantastic result for all the team and we are very proud."
Ian Cooper, Calderdale Council's cabinet member for safer and stronger communities, said: "The work that Golder carried out was first class and helped to deliver the restoration successfully."
