Drama as five drivers crash

A STRING of crashes on Calderdale roads kept police and firefighters busy.

Three cars crashed into barriers in separate incidents on the same bend in Boothtown Road between Halifax and Queensbury.

The cars blocked the busy A647, causing major disruption.

A red Peugeot 206, blue Toyota Avensis and blue Ford Ka were involved in the accidents near the junction with Swalesmoor Road.

Two women were taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary after a crash in Brighouse.

Huddersfield Road was closed both ways between the Heath Mount Road junction and the Daisy Road junction.

A silver BMW and a minibus collided. It is not clear which vehicle the women were travelling in.

The M62 was closed westbound between Rishworth and Milnrow for almost two hours after an oil spill.

Diverted traffic clogged roads through the district, including Ripponden and Triangle.
