Driving school comes to town
A school of motoring, founded in 2000 to help ethnic communities deal with the driving theory test, has expanded into Halifax.
Bradford School of Motoring later developed and introduced theory software with an Urdu voiceover so Asian students who had difficulty reading, writing or speaking English could sit mock examinations.
The company, which began instructor training in 2002 and has helped 110 people qualify, opened its new business under the name Progress UK in Queen's Road, Halifax.
It has eight staff – three in admin and five instructors. Five people are also being trained as instructors.
"This is a really big move. We have been very well received in Halifax. Our aim is to achieve everything here that we have in Bradford," said owner Max Zaman.
