Drunken neighbour locked up after breaking Asbo
A NUISANCE neighbour has been jailed for 14 weeks for persistently breaking an anti-social behaviour order.
Beverley Mitchell, 35, of Backhold Avenue, Siddal, Halifax, was given a curfew and a community order in March after breaching her Asbo.
Chairwoman of Calderdale Magistrates Court Susan Storr told Mitchell: "You have a history of disobedience to court orders.
"We believe you would not comply with further orders."
Abigail Langford, prosecuting, said on April 13 police were called to a disturbance in Siddal and were told Mitchell had had an altercation with another woman.
When they went to her home she was drunk and swore at them.
She was arrested for breach of the peace.
"As she was being taken into the police van she was heard to threaten her neighbour, in breach of her Asbo," said Miss Langford.
Mitchell admitted breaching the order.
The court heard she had also broken her curfew on numerous occasions in March and April.
Julie Brimble, for Mitchell, said she had stayed with her father in March to avoid her neighbours.
She said in April Mitchell had locked herself in her house to detox from drugs and alcohol, and this was why she had not answered the door to officers checking she was obeying her curfew.
Mitchell has recently been given a notice to quit her house.
She is subject to an Asbo until July 4, 2012. It prohibits her from causing harassment, alarm or distress to others.
