Elgato chef to judge healthy cooking contest
AN AWARD-winning Halifax chef will be on the judging panel of a cooking competition to promote healthy eating.
Simon Shaw, of Elgato Negro Tapas, Ripponden, will join other chefs to judge dishes in the contest, launched by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
"Cooking is one of the major causes of fire with chip pan accidents alone causing one fifth of all accidental house fires," said assistant chief fire officer Craig McIntosh.
Shortlisted recipes will be served up at a tasting ceremony at the British Gas Academy in Leeds on Tuesday.
The winning recipes will feature in a series of safe and healthy recipe books to be published later this year.
