Elland Carnival: That was fun... and we're helping charity

BOUNCY castles, penalty shoot-out, stalls and fun slides were just some of the attractions at this year's Elland Carnival.

Around 1,500 people turned out for the event at Hullen Edge Park and raised 844 for local charities – its highest total yet.

Visitors were treated to performances by the Huddersfield Brass Ensemble and Calderdale-based dance group, the Rock 'n' Rollers. There was also a mini ferris wheel, a beat the goalie game and music from Phoenix FM.

The crowd included Kirsty Murch, 23, from Elland, who said: "This year has been much better, because there was just so much more for children to do.

"Events like this should be supported because at the end of the day they are doing something for the community."
